Three hours sorting the food scraps of Governors Island into windrows at Earth Matter's compost farm, followed by a tour of the Compost Learning Center. Ten places a week, free, running every Monday to the end of December — the longest-running volunteer season on our calendar. Cancel five days ahead if you can't come; the slot goes to someone else. Requires the Governors Island ferry.
