Pickleball in New York

NYC Parks lists 68 pickleball courts at 11 parks, all drop-in. Five of the parks need no permit at all; on the other six the courts are shared with tennis, so a tennis permit applies in season. Indoors, a handful of clubs in Brooklyn and Queens rent courts by the hour and sell open-play sessions.

How the park courts work

  • Pickleball on NYC Parks courts is drop-in; no reservations are listed. Source
  • On courts shared with tennis, a tennis permit is required during tennis season — the first Saturday in April to the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Source
  • Permits: a single-play permit is $15 (one hour; doubles get two), an adult season permit $100, seniors $20, under-18s $10. Source
  • Five pickleball sites (28 courts) need no tennis permit; six sites (40 courts) do. Source

Learning the game
