Gardening with Ground Covers

About

Have you ever wanted an alternative to woodchips or landscape fabric? If so, this is a workshop for you. Ground covers are an excellent way to protect exposed soils while also providing habitat and improving soil stability. In this workshop we will explore a variety of garden situations, plants and expand the definition of “ground covers.” Participants will learn how to select, establish and design with ground covers. No matter the size of your garden, ground covers are a great step towards building a sustainable and more resilient community garden.Register HereNYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
