About

Haley Scott, a BIPOC birder and guide with the Feminist Bird Club, leads a peak-migration bird walk that looks at how colonialism affected bird populations and how common bird names moved from Algonquin languages into settlers' English; binoculars and walking sticks are available to borrow. At Wave Hill, 4900 Independence Ave in Riverdale (Metro-North to Riverdale, or the 1 to 231 St then the Bx7 or Bx10). Sunday 11 October, 9:30–11 am; free with grounds admission ($10 adults), advance registration encouraged, ages 10 and up with an adult. It is part of Wave Hill's Indigenous Peoples' Weekend and the only birding walk on our calendar with this focus.
